The first car we bought after we moved out here was a Volkswagen Jetta. It handled nicely, and my wife loved the car…that is until we started getting electrical problems three years later (so typical of so many German cars, aside from Mercedes). It didn’t take long for us to get into a classic L.A. rear-ender, either (it was on the I-5 South, and the other driver got distracted by a Goodyear blimp and plowed into us from behind). Regardless, the jackass in his 50s navigating this silver Jetta (license plate 6ZFY) would likely be initiating any collision if he continues driving like this inattentive, aggressive douche. We were on Sunset Blvd. going west, and this fool was chatting away on his phone (albeit using his Bluetooth) while aggressively tailgating other drivers, speeding whenever possible. Nonetheless, aside from using hands-free phone technology, his other saving grace was that he was at least signaling for turns and lane changes. Perhaps chatting on the phone was enough to distract him that he couldn’t see how futile his bumper-humping was, something he could have easily ascertained by looking a few hundred yards ahead of him while driving. C’est la vie….hopefully he’ll make it to his AARP initiation without fracturing his hip in a foolhardy accident.
